Did you know that the first Olympic Games took place in 776 BC? And did they only include one sport? One stage road race. A road race, as long as the Olympia stadium, 180 meters. And then the Olympiad was over! 35 years later another sport was added! Two Stage Road Race, 360 meters.

Somehow sports were added over the centuries. The big excitement came much later when Wrestling was added about 550 BC. It took 220 years for such a decision.
But suddenly the number of spectators in Olympia multiplied within an Olympiad. They flocked from all over Greece to see their athletes compete in Wrestling! And usually the athletes were gigantic.

It is reported that in small towns, the food expenses of the athletes were borne by the whole town, because the wrestling athletes cost a lot. But especially when we had matches between athletes of neighboring city-states, who had some dispute with each other, the victory of one of them over the other brought great excitement to the city, corresponding to the excitement of victory on the battlefield.

It was then that the spectators carried the athlete on their shoulders to the city, which may have been tens of kilometers from Olympia, and they broke down the walls for the Olympian to enter!
Wrestling was the most important sport of every Olympiad !!
