✦ A systematic genocide targeting the Assyrians in the town of Simele and the rest of the Assyrian villages on August 7, 1933.
◆◆The criminal Kurdish Bakr Sidqi raised the slogan of exterminating the Assyrians forever! And there will be “One English Pound for every dead Assyrian’s head“!

◆ Brief historical facts – Simele genocide in August 1933 :
‣ The Arab occupation government and the occupying Kurds with British support arrested the Patriarch (Mar Eshai Shimun XXIII) because he was demanding the legitimate rights of the Assyrian people. They detained him in Baghdad and then exiled him to Cyprus.
‣ In the face of this brave nationalist position and the steadfastness of the Patriarch, the war against the Assyrians “The indigenous population” was launched by the British Mandate and the Arab Iraqi occupation government in cooperation with the Kurds.
◆ In early August 1933, the Arab mayor of Zakho came to Simele and other Assyrian villages and disarmed the Assyrians.
✦ A genocide committed by the criminal government on the orders of the Saudi King Ghazi bin Faisal, who was installed by Britain as King of Iraq, with the general officer of the Iraqi Army “Bakr Sidqi” (He is Kurdish), and the Arab Prime Minister of Iraq “Rashid Ali al-Gaylani”, and the Circassian Minister of the Interior “Hikmat Sulayman”.
◆ All the Arab, Kurdish and Yezidis tribes and various sects of the Iraqi people supported and voluntarily participated the Iraqi army to exterminate the Assyrians.
✦◆✦ Ethnic cleansing was officially declared against the Assyrians because they carried an identity deeply rooted in a grand civilization. The name “Ashur” was not merely geographic or historical; it symbolized the vision of an independent Assyrian state.
Consequently, the Arab occupation government, in alliance with Kurds, feared the name “Ashur”, it represented a direct political and ideological threat to their interests. In response, they launched a systematic campaign of genocide aimed at erasing the Assyrian identity, preventing the rise of any Assyrian state, and silencing national aspirations rooted in Assyria’s history and its future vision.✦◆✦
✦ More than 6,000 Assyrians were killed and more than 100 Assyrian villages were destroyed and looted.
✦They killed the elderly, raped girls, ripped open the bellies of pregnant women, and burned children alive. This genocide took place under the cover of the British mandate.
🔹This day embodies a unifying symbol for the resistors and warriors who confronted enemies and were martyred in defense of the land and identity. It also commemorates the victims of genocides and tragedies endured by the Assyrians throughout modern and contemporary history🔹
Despite the countless Massacres and Genocides carried out against us over the years by the Arab, Kurdish, Turkish and Iranian occupiers, the sacred blood of our ancestors’ martyrs still runs in our veins, and by right of their sacred blood we will take their right.
Assyria will rise again.
The Assyrian nation is still alive and will raise the banner of our ancestors high once again.
